The Mythology of Pholus

Let’s work through the mythology around the Centaur Pholus now, which will hopefully stimulate our imagination as we approach trying to understand what it means in the chart. I will be comparing Pholus with Chiron quite a bit, as they make an interesting contrast. Although I have done some research myself, on quite a few charts, much of my initial understanding came from the work of Dieter Koch. He has written, with his co-author Robert von Heeren, a very comprehensive book about Pholus which details its meaning through house, sign and by transit.[30] Unfortunately, the book is only available in German at present, which, to my frustration, I don’t understand. However, I had the good fortune to meet Dieter in person, and we have had many fascinating conversations which have taught me a great deal.
